purple day

As the Easter weekend fast approaches, many of us are stocking up on Easter eggs and making plans to spend some time with the family. However, March 26th also signifies an important date for the Epilepsy Society, as it is a day when people across the world are invited to show their support and raise awareness for the condition by ‘going purple’! From baking purple treats to wearing purple for the day, everybody is encouraged to take part and help improve the lives of those affected by epilepsy.

What is Purple Day?

Purple Day was originally organised in 2008 by a young Canadian girl named Cassidy Megan who has epilepsy and wanted to raise awareness about the condition to assure others affected by it that they are not alone. Over the years, this event has gained global success, as more and more people are inspired to get involved and turn the world purple.

Why is the colour purple used for this day?

The colour purple was chosen by Cassidy for this event because lavender is the international colour for epilepsy. No matter what shade or tone of purple is used, showing this sign of support can help raise vital funds and unite those affected by the condition.

How can I join in with Purple Day?

Whether you choose to have a dress down day, hold a bake sale or wear a special edition Purple Day pin badge, you can help this excellent cause in whatever way you wish. Why not show your support for the campaign – whilst transforming your interior design in the process – by fitting new purple blinds in your home?
Here at Kingston Blinds Direct, we offer a range of stunning purple blinds which can suit any type of decor. Whether you are looking for a block colour or prefer to have a printed design, the colour purple creates a calming, luxurious feel in any room.
